Building relationships online
I'm from a small town. One of those don't-blink-or-you'll-miss-it towns with a river running through it and an ice cream shop where everyone hangs out on hot summer evenings.
How does this apply to my position as head of user engagement at a national web company? Because that small-town upbringing taught me to listen. To make friends. To be humble and helpful and to treat everyone I encounter with kindness and respect.
As I immersed myself in the world of digital and social strategy, I quickly realized those values served me just as well with the newest popular social media tool as they did on Main Street. The web is just one big network of people who want to be treated well, who want good customer service, useful information and a brand they can trust.
Building relationships online is just like building relationships offline. I have a strong track record of the ability to scale a client base, driving both traffic and engagement. Within 60 days of taking over national social strategy at Patch.com, my tactics increased social referrals by more than 50 percent. I increased blogging on Patch by more than 75 percent within 90 days.
My method of engaging with users isn't just friendly. It's effective, and it's proven.
